It is also smart in that it can differentiate between when it is static (such as when someone is working at their desk), and when it is on the move, such as travelling between departments or when someone is going to lunch.

These devices make use of Active RFID technology (Radio Frequency Identification) to carry out these functions, but you can also purchase an optional GSM Modem if you actively need to send information out to the transmitters or receive it back.
